Questions
Is my PDF uploaded when I compress it?
No. The file is compressed in this browser tab and saved straight to your device.
Can I compress a PDF without losing quality?
Yes. Keep quality removes unused data and stores the rest more tightly. Images are left as they are, so the PDF looks exactly the same.
How do I compress a PDF to under 1 MB?
Choose Smaller file, then Smaller. It stores photos at 96 dpi, which suits email and upload limits. wtfpdf cannot promise an exact size, since that depends on what is in the file.
What do Smaller, Balanced and High quality do?
They set how far photos and scans are scaled down. Smaller uses 96 dpi, Balanced 150 dpi and High quality 300 dpi, which is sharp enough to print.
Does Smaller file blur text?
No. Only photos and scanned images change. Text, fonts and drawings stay as they are, and screenshots and charts with few colours are left alone.
Why did my PDF hardly get smaller?
With Keep quality, a PDF that is mostly photos or scans may shrink only a little. Try Smaller file. wtfpdf never gives you a file larger than the one you started with.
Can I compress a password protected PDF?
Yes. wtfpdf asks for the password first, and the compressed file keeps the same protection.
