Questions

What does flattening a PDF do?

It draws form fields, and comments if you choose, into the page itself. They look the same in every viewer and can no longer be edited.

Is my PDF uploaded when I flatten it?

No. The file is flattened in this browser tab and saved straight to your device.

Do links still work after flattening?

Yes. Links keep working and signature fields stay as they are. Anything a printer would leave out is removed.

Can I flatten only the form fields and keep the comments?

Yes. Choose Form fields only. Choose Form fields and comments to flatten both.

Can I flatten an XFA form?

No. wtfpdf cannot read forms built only with XFA. A form that also has a copy of its fields as XFA can be flattened, and that copy is removed.

Can I flatten a password protected PDF?

Yes. wtfpdf asks for the password first. The flattened PDF keeps the password and permissions of the original.
